1. The Company Stopped Central Mexico Operations as a Precaution
As of July 18, 2026, Taylor Farms had voluntarily paused both iceberg lettuce procurement and production from central Mexico. Production at the facility in that region was also temporarily halted, according to the Cyclospora Information Hub.
Taylor Farms says it retained independent third-party specialists to complete a comprehensive assessment of the facility’s food-safety procedures. The company also states that it remains in contact with the FDA, CDC, and state health agencies.
2. The Recall Began With a Voluntary Decision
Taylor Farms announced the recall on July 17, 2026. The company says it voluntarily recalled iceberg lettuce cultivated in central Mexico after that lettuce was identified as a possible source associated with one of the recent Cyclospora outbreaks.

4. The Recall Applies Only to Lettuce From a Defined Source
The recall concerns Taylor Farms lettuce that was obtained and processed through the company’s central Mexico facility. Taylor Farms says its retail-branded products, including chopped kits and salad kits, are excluded from the recall.
A label that does not state “Product of Mexico” indicates the lettuce was grown in either the United States or Canada, the hub explains. Such products are not included in the affected supply.
5. Retail Availability Was Narrow
Most recalled lettuce was distributed through foodservice, rather than sold in grocery stores. The only retail products involved were specific Marketside items available at Walmart.
Those products were 12-oz and 24-oz Iceberg Salad packages with Best if Used By dates from 7/18/2026 through 8/3/2026. Also included were 8-oz and 16-oz Shredded Lettuce packages with Best if Used By dates spanning July 18 to August 3, 2026. Taylor Farms states that all of these products have been taken off store shelves.

The hub says that the FDA had no confirmed positive Cyclospora test results for products as of August 5, 2026. Taylor Farms also states that it spends more than $200 million each year on food-safety protocols that undergo independent auditing and verification.
